What affects the cost of a website?

The price depends on what needs designing, writing, building and connecting. Start with the scope rather than a page count.

Different page types

Ten pages using two consistent layouts can be simpler than five pages with entirely different structures. A quote should make the page types, content responsibilities and review stages clear.

Content and design work

Approved copy, brand guidelines and usable photographs give a different starting point from a site that needs its messaging and visual direction developed. Clear inputs make quotes easier to compare.

Editing and integrations

An information site has different requirements from a CMS, shop, portal or booking flow. Payments, permissions, third-party APIs and data migration add decisions and testing work.

What happens at launch

Ask whether the quote includes redirects, hosting setup, form testing, measurement, training and handover. Ongoing hosting, licences and support should be separated from the initial build.

A useful way to ask for a quote

Send the goal, current URL, essential functions and budget range. If the full wish list does not fit, ask which smaller version would still solve the main problem. That creates a better conversation than comparing a headline price.
